Anything that adds bulk to pants is not slimming. One of the major problems with plus size pants is that designers try to add "interest" by putting fancy stitching or—gods forbid—logos on pants pockets.
A pocket that lies close to the rump, a fairly narrow pocket with tightly seamed edges and no room for anything inside might be okay. And it's not just back pockets that can pack up your look. Cargo pants generally look bulky and messy unless worn by skinny, scrawny people, preferably teenaged people.
Pocket detailing is great for women with flatter, less round bottoms since they can create an illusion of a fuller backside.
