Fragrances & Scents

With thousands of fragrances available today and millions of women and teens enjoying their aromatherapy scents, there are also a lot of questions about perfume. How to choose the best one? What is the difference between a eau de toilette and a parfum? How can I wear perfume if I am allergic? How much fragrance is too much fragrance and where should I forgo any scented products at all? These are all very common questions about perfume and fragrance that I will attempt to answer for you here in the form of helpful beauty tips.

How do I make my perfume's fragrance last longer?

I must first mention that you, personally, should not be able to smell your perfume all day long. Your sense of smell will get used to the fragrance and you will no longer smell it on yourself with in an hour or so.

How to find a fragrance that suits you?

You find a fragrance that suits you by starting with what you love. Perfume shopping is big fun, but you have to be prepared for it.

What are some essential oils that can lift your spirits?

When you read about essential oils, it will seem that they all purport to give you some kind of lift. Some are known as calming (they can lift you from your stress) and others exciting—they will lift your mood. In some ways, the oils that life your spirits are highly individual, because we all have different associations with various scents. If your dad wore Old Spice and the scent makes you recall him lifting you up and whirling you around when he came home from work, that smell is linked very closely in your brain with a happy memory. If your dad wore Old Spice and you associate the smell with him yelling at you for not cleaning your room, the smell won't trigger happy feelings because it's associated with an unpleasant memory. If you find that a particular essential oil brings back unhappy memories or creates a bad feeling, discard it in favor of one that has no unhappy associations.
