There are a few exceptions and types of make-up that last longer than others, but make-up does get old a lot quicker than you think.
Most makeup artists say to replace your eye makeup in a year. Over time, makeup colors change—fading, becoming more orange, or just getting caked and weird. But if you don't see any difference in your eye makeup, there's no reason why you can't hold onto it a bit longer. Most of us buy new makeup anyway, because the fashions change each season, with new colors coming to the fashion forefront. Mineral makeup is one exception to the rule about replacing your makeup each year: made with pure minerals, it won't change color on you because it doesn't have the binders, fillers and general strange chemicals that comprise cheaper makeup's.
